Getting Started

Getting started is easy. Simply follow the steps below.

#1 Admission

If you would like to apply to a degree program, follow the instructions in the above link.

If you do not want to apply for admission into a degree program and only want to take courses, you are a continuing student, or you have already been admitted, continue to number 2 below. You can take courses as a non-degree student without applying for admission.

#2 Find Classes

Click on this link to read about the differences between academic and professional development courses. Also find further links to the various course listings and schedule of courses.

#3 Register

Follow the link above to read detailed information about how to register for academic or non-credit professional development courses. Registration for academic courses is a 2-3 step process. Registration for professional development courses is an even easier 1 step process.

#4 Dropping and Adding

If you need to drop or add a course, see the detail in the link above.

#5 Academic Calendar

There are deadlines to drop and add, so pay special attention to the deadline dates on the academic calendar. Other important deadline dates and events are also noted.

#6 Find an Education Officer

Most distance courses require an Education Officer (EO) to proctor your exams. Read the EO requirements in this link.

#7 Security and Computer Accounts

Secure access via a login name and IdentiKey is required for accessing CUConnect, the CU student portal, CULink (email) and CULearn (one of many course management tools). CUConnect is used for registering, dropping and adding courses, viewing your tuition bill, viewing grades or requesting transcripts, viewing course schedules, and many other activities. Click on the link above to learn about security and how to activate your IdentiKey.

#8 Course Management/Learning Tool

There are several course management/learning tools used by faculty on campus. Follow the link above to read about this important component to your class and how to sign up.

#9 Course Lecture Access

Lecture access varies depending on the type of course for which you have registered. Click on this link to read detailed information about the different types of access, when access is available, and minimum technical requirements

#10 Pay Your Tuition

There are a variety of ways to pay your tuition. Click on this link to view all the options.

#11 Grades and Transcripts

 Follow this link to find out how to obtain grades and transcripts once your course is complete.

Take some time to go through each of the pages in this link to familiarize yourself with the distance learning process.
