When you register for courses at the University of Colorado for the first time, you are assigned a Student ID (SID) in place of your social security number and a Personal Identification Number (PIN). Your SID and PIN are mailed to you. Safeguard these numbers as you will need to refer to them often. These numbers are valid as long as you are a student at the University of Colorado.
The University uses the IdentiKey as a secure access method. The IdentiKey consists of a CU login name and unique password. Activating your IdentiKey is required in order to use CUConnect (student portal), CULink (e-mail system), CULearn (course management tool), the computer labs on campus, and to access the computer network remotely. If you are registering for courses at CU-Boulder for the first time or have not been enrolled for more than one semester, you will need to activate your IdentiKey. To activate or reset your IdentiKey, follow the instructions below.
For assistance with login procedures or activating your account, contact the Information Technology Services (ITS) help desk at 303-735-4357 or help@colorado.edu.
The university has established e-mail as an official means of communication with registered students. Distance students are issued a university e-mail address ("firstname.lastname@colorado.edu"); however, CAETE will use the e-mail address you provide on your registration form. The e-mail address is used to communicate important announcements (e.g., registration information, class cancellations or changes, new courses, etc.) Students are responsible for checking the account on a regular basis. To activate your account, log in to PLUS (or via the student web portal, CUConnect) and choose "Accounts."Students may choose to redirect all university e-mail to an outside e-mail account at their discretion. For assistance in this process, contact Information Technology Services (ITS) at 303-735-4357 or help@colorado.edu.
