Facilities

Administration

The CAETE main office (ECOT 126) area is located in the Engineering Center on the first floor in the office tower opposite the elevators. It houses Student Services, Registration Services, Financial Services, Marketing, and the Director and Assistant Director's Offices.

Control Room and Studios

The control room (ECCS 1B24) and the three studio classrooms are located in the first basement level of the Engineering Center in the computer science wing. The instructor's podium in all three rooms includes two monitors—one preview and one program. It is equipped with a networked Gateway Pentium 4 with 512 megabytes of RAM, a 60 GB hard drive, a zip drive, a 32-X speed CD-ROM, two USB ports, a sound card, and 2.65 GB processor speed. There is also a CD burner and a DVD player. The computer has a Windows XP Professional operating system and contains Microsoft Office XP 2002. The podium can be raised or lowered to provide a more desk-like seating area for the instructor.

Studio A (ECCS 1B14)

This studio seats 30 students at fixed tables with movable seating and features three cameras—one at the rear of the room, one above the podium, and one with a view of the class. There is a large TV monitor for the in-class students. Microphones for in-class students are mounted on the desks with one microphone for approximately every two students.

Studio B (ECCS 1B12)

This studio seats 78 students at fixed tables with movable seating and features three cameras—one mid-room, one overhead, and one with a view of the class. There is a large projection screen and a large TV monitor for the in-class students. Microphones for in-class students are mounted on the desks with one microphone for approximately every two students.

Studio C (ECCS 1B12)

This studio seats up to 94 students at fixed tables with movable seating and features three cameras—one mid-room, one overhead, and one with a view of the class. There is a large projection screen for the in-class students. Microphones for in-class students are mounted in the ceiling. This room also offers a large white board behind a movable panel

Control Room (ECCS 1B24)

All cameras, microphone operation, and other audio/video functions are controlled from this room. Each studio has its own operational console that is staffed by a board operator. Board operators are student employees who are typically assigned for the duration of the semester for each class being recorded.

Duplication (ECCS 1B01)

This room houses the duplication, servers, and disc printing equipment and supplies.

Shipping and Engineering Technical Staff (ECCR 1B43)

This room houses the media and shipping functions as well as the offices of the technical staff.
