- Tuition usually increases each academic year beginning with the fall semester.
Bills and Receipts
- An invoice/registration receipt is sent to you at your home address at the beginning of the semester. This is your bill and indicates any payment made and/or amount due.
- If your company should be billed directly, you must indicate “Third Party Billing” on your registration form and submit authorization paperwork (tuition voucher, purchase order) to Continuing Education and Professional Studies. It is the student’s responsibility to complete the appropriate paperwork so that the bill is paid on time. You will receive invoices until the tuition voucher or purchase order is received by Continuing Education and Professional Studies.
- If your employer has a tuition reimbursement program that does not pay CAETE directly, the student must pay the bill by the deadline and request reimbursement from the company.
Payment Methods
There are a variety of options when it comes to paying your tuition: credit card, online Internet check, check, or cash. For your convenience, credit card payments are accepted online through CUConnect or by phone. Call 303-492-2212 if you have any questions.
Instructions
Have your student ID and your PIN available for the web payment options.

Late Penalties
It is ultimately every student's responsibility to pay their bills in a timely manner. Even if a student does not receive a bill in the mail, or their tuition is being paid by a third party, the student is still responsible for payment by the due date. Failure to make payment in full by the tuition due date will result in a stop placed on the student's account preventing the student from obtaining transcripts or registering for any future semester, a 1% service charge will be assessed monthly, and possible referral of the account to the State of Colorado Central Collections Services (CCS).
Financial Aid/Scholarships/Discounts
The Division of Continuing Education and Professional Studies has a financial aid advisor to assist you in exploring all the options available to you whether you are a degree or nondegree student.
For detailed information, please visit www.colorado.edu/finaid/continuinged.html or call 303-492-8146 to schedule an appointment. Browse the Financial Aid Office web site. Read the Alternative Loans Handout.
Note that CAETE tuition for distance learning is different from tuition for the Boulder campus; therefore, all students who qualify for financial aid must call 303-492-8146 to have their aid adjusted accordingly. Failure to do this will result in partial aid cancellation later in the semester.
The Division of Continuing Education and Professional Studies offers a limited number of scholarships each year. Students must be at least 25 years old by the first day of class for the semester in which they are applying for the scholarship. Students must also be enrolled as a nondegree student and carry no more than a total of six credit hours or not more than two classes (including Boulder main campus and CE) during the semester of the award. The scholarship award may cover up to 80% of the tuition for one Continuing Education course, but will not exceed $590. Applications are available online at www.colorado.edu/conted/scholarships.htm.
Members of the University of Colorado at Boulder's Alumni Association are entitled to a 10% discount of instate tuition for all Continuing Education and Professional Studies offerings (including courses offered through CAETE). This discount is limited to one course per semester, and is applicable only for members whose annual fees are at the $45 level or higher. Membership cards must be presented for verification. Members of the HERD (the student chapter of the association) and "New Graduate Members" are not eligible for the discount.
