First, confirm that your computer, browser, and Internet connection meet the minimum requirements for streaming or downloading. If they do, and you still have difficulties, review the common problems and solutions below.
Periodically clear your computer cache by using Disk Cleanup in your System Tools. Also frequently clear the Internet Explorer cache under the Tools dropdown menu.
In the effort to enhance your viewing experience on occasion we will have a folder that contains a movie file ending in .wmv or .avi. This will take a little more time to download and will open in Windows Media Player.
If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer and experience problems while viewing or closing the recording, we recommend upgrading your Virtual Machine. It can be downloaded from www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp.
Disable pop-up killers, at least for this portal site. Many of these pop-up blockers sense the video window as a pop-up.
Each class or presentation has three separate files: one for just streaming, one higher quality download, and one lower quality download. If one file will not play, two others are available.
Windows Media Player problems can be corrected by either downloading an updated WMP from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmedia, or in extreme cases un-installing WMP and re-installing.
Students have reported that Norton Internet Security and other personal security software causes this problem. When the security software was disabled they were able to view their class. Enable cookies.

This is generally caused by a change on your computer. We are aware that the Firefox, Google, and Yahoo tool bars can block engineeringonline viewers. Contact help@caete.colorado.edu for assistance.
This portal depends on being able to identify information from your browser. Enable cookies. Norton Personal Firewall can be set to block this information. If you are running this firewall and find you can't get beyond this first page, set the firewall to allow environment variables. Some companies have firewalls.
Windows XP SP2 can block access to your CD. If you have upgraded to SP2 and can no longer view your classes on CD, check the IE Tools/Internet Options/Advanced menu. Under the Security heading you will find a check box to allow viewing active contents from your CD.

Also check the IE Tools/Internet Options/Security and enable buttons referring to any download to be run on my computer. Allow for pop-ups and disable pop-up blockers.
If you're having problems downloading PPT files from a Tegrity session, disable your popup blocker. If you do not want to permanently disable the popup blocker, press the “CTRL" button on your keyboard as soon as the browser window opens. This will temporarily disable the popup blocker and the File Download box will then open and you can download the PPT file.
