Center for Advanced Engineering and Technology Education

Course Library

The CAETE Course Library offers access to over 100 University of Colorado graduate engineering and technology courses taught in previous semesters. These prerecorded courses are available online. Certain courses taught each semester are selected for inclusion in the Library. At the end of each semester, updated versions of courses replace previous versions, and new courses are added. Courses can be taken for credit, rented or purchased, and usually include a set of instructor handouts.

Prerecorded courses are available in the disciplines of aerospace engineering, civil and environmental engineering, computer science, electrical and computer engineering, mechanical engineering, telecommunications, and engineering management. Additionally a few courses in business and general technology are available.

All material, whether taken for course credit, rented, or purchased, is granted to user under a limited license for sole use of the recipient. All materials are copyrighted by the University of Colorado, and any reproduction, broadcast, or resale is strictly prohibited. Rented material must be returned on the date it is due, and without prior authorization, it will be deemed to be purchased and subject to additional costs.

In order to take a library course for credit, the student must first obtain permission from the instructor. The student and instructor must arrange the schedule for homework assignments and exams. Students must confirm with the instructor any text and hardware/software requirements for the course. Next, a CAETE Registration form must be completed during the applicable registration period. You must register during the regular applicable semester registration period for credit library courses since these courses are semester-based. Normal CAETE tuition applies. Register Now!

Each Library course (except as otherwise noted) is equivalent to 3 credit hours (one semester). The amount of media for each course varies depending on how many times a week the course met during the semester and the length of each lecture. However, the total number of hours of material is approximately the same for each course (approximately 38 hours).

Companies and individuals may purchase a library course for a single fee of $5,000. Companies (per site) and non CU students/alumni may rent a library course for $3,500 for a period of 16 weeks. Multiple locations of the same company are considered separate sites. Course lectures are provided on CD or DVD only. Lecture previews (two lectures per course up to two courses maximum per semester) are free for a 16 week period. An order form is required. Order Now!

CU students/alumni who want to view a Library course solely for their own use (not multiple viewers) qualify for an 16-week rental at a reduced student rate of $500. Alumnus status must be verified. Order Now!

These previously recorded courses are available via the Internet for downloading and streaming unless otherwise noted in the list below. Courses that are available via the Internet can be made available in CD or DVD format for an additional fee. See Course Delivery and Access and the Course Media Request Form for additional information. Register Now!
