Stephen R. Lawrence is an Associate Professor of Operations Management in the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado - Boulder, where he teaches courses in supply chain management, technology management, and entrepreneurship. During academic year 2004/2005 he served as Interim Dean while the university searched for a permanent dean. He previously served as Associate Dean for Programs, Faculty Chair for Executive Programs, and as Deming Professor of Entrepreneurship, a position from which he resigned to become interim dean. He received BS and MS degrees in engineering from Purdue University, and his doctorate in industrial administration from Carnegie-Mellon University. Dr. Lawrence is the recipient of number teaching awards, including the MBA Teaching Excellence Award in Spring 2000. He previously taught at Washington University in St. Louis, Carnegie-Mellon University, and the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Lawrence's research interests include operations scheduling, supply chain lead time estimation, technology selection and acquisition, and topics in sustainable energy. His research has been published in a number of respected academic journals. Prior to his academic career, Dr. Lawrence worked in industry for eight years culminating in 5 years as vice president for operations of an entrepreneurial metal casting plant in the Midwest.
