CSCI 5809: Computer Animation

Description
This is an introductory course for the novice and requires no programming. We will use Maya, which is by far the most popular 3D animation application used to make animated movies. We will step through all the major processes of creating an animation: modeling, lighting and creating shadows, texturing and putting surfaces on objects, animating, creating dynamic (special) effects, and rendering. The course will be driven by a series of short tutorials presented by the instructor. You will NOT be graded on the artistic qualities of your work; rather the focus is on developing a solid hands-on feeling for creating animation, as it is rapidly becoming a critical, basic skill for computer professionals.
Prerequisites
Instructor consent.
