TLEN 5835: Computer Crime Seminar (Classroom Only)
Description
This seminar explores legal issues that judges, legislators, prosecutors, and defense attorneys confront with recent explosion in computer related crime. Includes Fourth Amendment in cyberspace, law of electronic surveillance, computer hacking and other computer crimes, encryption, online economic espionage, cyberterrorism, First Amendment in cyberspace, federal and state relations in enforcement of computer crime laws, and civil liberties online.
Enrollment for ITP students will be limited to five students. ITP students do not need to have a law degree in order to take this class, although they should have an interest in research and writing.
Classes are held at the law school.
Prerequisites
No previous experience is required, although familiarity with the Internet is helpful. Students are required to attend and participate in class sessions, make a class presentation, and write a paper on an approved topic.
