EMEN 6830: Project Management Capstone

Description
Represents an opportunity for the student to evaluate the project management practices in the student's work unit or company or in another organization. The student must identify the strength and weaknesses of the application of the major project management processes as outlined in the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK). Opportunities for improvement and methods for implementation are expected. Includes review of PMI's OPM3 maturity evaluation or Kerzners PMMM.
Outline
Selection of organization for study; Development of organization background on project management practices; Evaluation of project management practices; Identification of strengths and weaknesses; Development of recommendations for improvement and methods for implementation; Submission of research report; Presentation of findings to the capstone committee
Objectives
Use established models to evaluate current state of your company and write a best practices statement for your type of business. You develop a plan moving your company from current state to best practices. Emphasis must be on making your organization more effective and efficient. The plan should be written from an executive prospective, addressing issues in linking activities to the companies strategic plan.
Prerequisites
EMEN 5030 (Project Management Systems), EMEN 5032 (Advanced Topics in Project Management), and acceptance into the Project Management Certification option.
